Kyle, I don't have specific answers for you, but when you go to the dyno, be sure you make only one change per run. Write it all down -- keep a log of all the changes and results, better or worse. You can come back to that later and gain insights you don't have time to think through on the clock.

I'm really curious what timing makes best power on your motor... I suspect it's a lot less than many people think, but I'd like to see.

We ran the MPPE on the dyno for three hours, making over 20 full-throttle runs. The Flex-A-Lite fan never came on the whole time (and there is no other fan on the car). It's not particularly loud in the rare instances when it does run.
