Transmission slippping 700 1991

Volvo 740 turbo wagon, 197,xxx miles, well maintained, except the neglected transmission. Just completed 1200 mile round trip, car ran great. Started up 2 days later, transmission is slipping big time ! Help ! I need advice on how to proceed! Thanks in advance.
