Does the in-tank pump always make a sound at the first turn of the key? 700

On the 760 I am getting back right - I had taken it to the shop I use. Mike (the mecahnic) fixed a bunch of jack leg wiring that some shade tree had implemented prior to my purchase. One of these fixes involved the fuel pump.

Since then I have noted that I do not hear a sound coming from the pump when I turn the key on as on my wifes 940. Is this normal for a 760? I have listened closely, but no sound. I was thinking it may be the way the key works - it is that special type that 760's use.

Thanks
