SU performance tuning... 1800

Basically agree, although not sure that I recommend that everyone play with the dist advance curve. I certainly agree that the best place to put your money is into good head port work, with exhaust work to match as the head work may not show any increase with a stock 1 3/4 inch exhaust. A cam change could/should be part of the package but is actually less important than head porting and exhaust changes.

If you do not have the money to pay for hours on the dyno, use it for a baseline, to determine optimum timing and whether you are in the ball park for air/fuel ratio, then make changes and test on the street. When you think that you have a good combination, go back to the dyno and do 2 - 3 quick runs to see if the changes are actually an improvement. For many people the main purpose of the dyno is to figure out where your engine is in terms of overall performance as compared to stock, and for the car owner to learn what types of changes really have an affect.

I should add that your dyno data is about typical for a stock B20.
