The various head and carburetor threads of late have been filled with some great information and has brought a question to mind. I thought I'd start a new thread so it doesn't get lost in the other stuff.
The comment has been made that HS6 SU's probably won't work well on a B20. I have my original set from my B18 laying around that I was planning on getting rebuilt to put on my B20F, which is essentiall stock with a D cam, .030" head gasket and currently a 32/36. There was also talk of using B18 heads in performance applications. Would there be any advantage to putting on the B18 head that I still have on my B20 bottom end? The pros seem to be that they would work well with the HS6's, I'd get a nice bump in compression, and of course the fact that I have both components laying around. I didn't do this initially because I thought the smaller valves might be too much of a restriction, which it appears may not be the case. This would essentially be like putting ipd's big bore kit in a B18, so it seems like this might be a good option. Opinions?
