1982 240 No Start 200

On my 1981 when I crank the key to get the car to start, there is no crank at all. I have checked to make sure that the Neutral Safety Switch is in place and the transmission is locked into place. I have also tried bypassing the switch and that has not helped. When you crank the key you can hear a slight click under the hood. I cant figure out what that noise is but it sounds like the starter area. The car was running earlier today and after doing some radio work, this happens.

The questions is

1- Has anyone seen a starter just "go bad" all of a sudden?

2- Is there a starter relay of any sort as in a 740? and if so where is it?

Any help would be great.

Thanks
