I have an '89 240 that I'm trying to get running again. About a year ago, it died while my mom was driving it. We managed to drive it home, but it was running really poorly. Its been pretty much sitting since then, though I did start it a few times. It may be worth mentioning that before it died, it had been idling funny, sometimes high, sometimes not at all, sometimes just fine.
Anyway, now I replaced the AMM and ECU with ones from my 93, and added some new gasoline, and it wont start. I got it to start once, but now it will crank, but wont catch. It seems like if I gave it a little more fuel, it would start, but pressing the accelerator has no effect. I can hear both fuel pumps, and tried jumping fuse 4 to fuse 6, which didnt help.
From searching the BB, my next thoughts were to check the fuel injector relay and the crank position sensor, but I'm not sure exactly where these are. I was also going to go ahead and replace the injectors (from my other car), but I cant get the fuel line detatched from the fuel rail-I need to go pick up some PB Blaster.
Can anyone tell me where the FI relay is, I assume its by the passengers feet or behind the glove box, but I'm not sure which relay it is. Also, how do I replace the crank position sensor? I can't seem to find either in Bentley.
Anything else I should check, or just swap out from the 93? Sorry this is so long. Thanks for all the help!
