B-18 hesitation 120-130

Took my car out for its first real ride today since I had the engine apart. I sorted out all sorts of things with help from the group here and now I am road legal (inspected!) and everything.

The engine seems to run strong but I get rather severe hesitation when I step on the gas. If I really go at it and don't back off the pedal I even get a backfire (or something like it). The problem is much worse if I put the choke in too soon but persisted even after the engine warmed up. It was rather cold today with a temp of about ~30 degrees. Incedentally, the engine started on its own in a 20 degree garage after sitting for more than a month!

My setup is a standard B-18 with a new C cam, dual (fresh) SU's, and Bosch electronic ignition. I tuned the carbs myself and thought before that I had done a reasonably good job.

Any suggestions?
