Engine Dies When Stopping 200 1987

My '87 240 sedan (215 K miles) has always run well, but lately I've noticed that while slowing down from about 60mph to either turn or stop at a red light, the engine dies. I am alerted to it when most of the dashboard's indicator lights come-on. With the care still rolling, I immediately shift to neutral then turn the ignition and the engine immediately restarts and I continue. It may or may not happen again during the same drive, but it's occurring more frequently. I bought the car with 117K miles and have never changed the plugs, wires, rotor, but have done all other routine maintenance as scheduled. The timing belt is due in about 5K miles.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
