81 Turbo (GLT) - To Buy or Not to Buy? 200 1981

I'm going to test drive a 1981 242 GLT (Turbo) with a manual tranny. I verified the year/model with the VIN number. Has 120,000 miles on it, looks good, no body damage or rust. All parts are there and in good to excellent condition. He's asking $1000 USD. Haven't seen the engine yet.

What should I look for / listen for on a Turbo that is different from a regular 1981 242 DL (my current car)?

How can I tell if it had an aftermarket intercooler installed or not?

Are turbo replacement parts readily available? How about an aftermarket intercooler kit?

Thanks,
Adam
