Exhaust leak Detection - How Best?

Thanks. I looked for blackened areas and did not find; however, the exhaust pipe near two gaskets near the turbo actually has some white coloration? Then felt for air while engine cold and utilized a piece of fuel hose and did not hear any leaking; however, I did hear what may be leaking (very low hiss sound) near the end of the large hose which connects the AMM to the turbo -- on the turbo end. The hose looks like it's starting to break down, so I'll plan to replace it.
