I don't know who is current OE manufacturer, but I imagine it changes over time, and the P/N for the cable (gas 240s) has been the same for '75 thru '91 (that's as far as my parts books go).

They all list 1377669 (old # 1228912), and the 4 or 5 that I've installed have always had the corrugated sheath that provides adjustment "threads".

I don't know if any '89 up had M47s (or if yours does), but the Volvo Quick Ref. Catalog lists only the number above -- no tranny distinction made.
