It is an 1964 122S stolen July of 2003 - returned this week.
The thief had a collection of vintage cars including another 122, a 123GT and at least one 1800. Over 2 dozen bikes and cars in total were taken. Pretty good taste for scum - who will be enjoying retirement early thanks to the State of California.
It appears he was a collector not a chop shop. Very few miles were driven and few parts taken off. He gutted the interior but the Police recovered my seats, door panels and even most of the nuts and bolts. Funny, the battery and my GM alternator were gone - two of the easiest and cheapest parts to replace. I had fresh paint, and it only has a few scratches - no dents and my rechromed parts are still there and in good shape. Same wheels etc. The VIN and black CAL plates are gone.
He did replace the ignition switch with what appears to be a new OEM style switch in the dash. The armored coil is still in use. When he stole the car he brought a spare coil with him (I found a tie-wrap on the ground that I used to tidy up my plug wires). I am going to attempt to pick it myself, but if I can't I'll use an after market coil to get it over to the independent shop near me, HiPerformance Volvo in Torrance.
Thanks for the ideas.
