Rear Main Seal 700 1989

I hate to do it, but I'm finally sick of it.

My 89 745 has been leaving puddles of oil since I bought it at 135k. I've done the flame trap service several times without noticeable difference. Now at 200k, it leaves a quarter to half cup of oil after a 30 minute drive, if the crankcase is full. If I let it get near a quart down, it doesn't lose near as much, and will stay at that level for 3 or 4 weeks. I'm convinced I've got a bad rear main seal.

I think I know the drill: Pull the auto trans, pull the flywheel, pop out the old seal with a screwdriver, tap in the new seal CAREFULLY with a round object near the same diameter as the new seal. Put back the flywheel, put back the AT, all is well.

What else do I need to know?

Bob
