Oil temperature gauge 700 1989

While spending a Sat. morning in my favorite boneyard, I spied an '88(?) 780 with the PRV V6. Looking at the gauge panel, I noticed an oil temp (not pressure judging by the numbers) in the upper right hand corner. It looked sort of neat and I was wondering if it was something that could be installed in my '89 740 wagon. I know it will fit in the instrument cluster but what about the sending unit? I suppose the whole idea is sort of inane but surely a Volvo afficianado reading this posting would understand.

'89 740 wagon 132k (truly sensible), '74 Saab 99 199k (truly inane)
