Switch to synthetic tranny fluid...anyone with positive results? 700 1991

I've flushed my tranny twice on my near 200,000 mile turbo wagon yet I still get the slipping and failure to upshift after car has sat awhile ( 3~4 hrs, 40F)
My question is: Has anyone had success overcoming this problem with the switch to synthetic? I'm thinkin' that this may be my last effort before condemning the transmission. Thank you. ( Runs great when warmed up )
