Vibration under load 200 1981

The '81 245 has developed a fairly severe vibration problem, again. I had all of the U-joints replaced last fall, so I don't think those are the problem this time. But when I crawled under the car, I noticed that the joints aren't lined up properly -- how much of a problem is this, and once the parts are out of original alignment, can it be re-balanced? Would it be enough to just remove the rear half and put it back in proper alignment? I don't remember quite how this goes together, so not sure if this would be an easy fix. At any rate, the vibration is a recent development, so that seems unlikely to be the main problem. The vibration is worst over about 50 mph, and stops on coasting. No effect from going around curves that I've been able to detect. What else to look for? Oh, and I took off the snow tires/steel rims and put the summer tires/Virgos back on, but that didn't change anything, so I think I can rule out the wheels.
