AT slow shift 2nd to 3rd 700

1991 740 wagon with AT (the most common AT, with the overdrive button). Slow to shift from second to third. Engine winds up to at least 4K rpm before that shift. Other shifts fine. Any ideas? Would a flush with synthetic help?
