91-240 cooling system woes.

I bought this car in 11/04.
Service records indicate that temp compensation board was replaced in 7/02, and again in 8/03(along with the thermostat.) Each time the symptoms are listed as temperature guage going pass middle mark toward red. This happened mostly at idle.
Yesterday 3/15/05 guage started to rise toward red, it got real close to red, without going into red. However, today, I took the car out for a very robust drive, a drive designed specifically, to put the cooling system under maximum stress. During this drive the temp guage never moved off center. After the drive I let the car sit and idle for about 5 min. The guage never moved passed the center mark. What am I to conclude?

From 8/03, until I bought the car in 11/04 the car was driven sporatically.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks board.

Lawrence
