HELP - Trouble installing rotor and distributor cap for '90 740GL

Well such is my luck. Had to get another rotor since I had not put it in correctly and it got shredded to bits. New rotor came today and I changed everything and the car will NOT start. The engine starts to turn over, then sputters and comes to a screaching halt. Any clue as to what I have done wrong? Thanks!!!
