Hi Bob,
I'm not certain what causes the no start problem, I have experienced it on my 88 765T from time to time, and it has been completely re-wired. From all of the posts regarding this subject, it would seem to be restricted primarily to the Turbo application. My pet theory is that as these motors, (which already have a lower than the 9.8:1 compression of the N/A motor when new), age, the lower compression on a cold start, coupled with the small amount of residual oil on the cylinder walls, allows even the slightest hesitation on initial firing to foul the plugs.
I changed to a plug that is 3 ranges hotter than the factory specs, and noticed a much improved performance, (from Bosch Platnums to AC DELCO R45**). It also does not hang as badly on the firing of the second, third and fourth cylinder when it is cold.
Of course this is just a theory so you might want to change the Coolant Temp Sensor, Radio Suppression Relay, Fuel Pump, Distributor, and ECU. That seems to be the most common advice.
Hope you find it,
