960 transmission quit

Sorry to hear of your problem Jimo, Danr had his tranny go out about a week ago from having lost coolent from the radiator into the tranny fluid.
Have you lost any coolent recently and could not find where it was going?
I'm not sure if a PNP switch could cause this or not, you didn't mention if there are any codes being sent(check engine light.
If you have the engine light on, find out what codes are present.
I'm not sure if the tranny solonids would cause this to happen or not.
See if you can get some codes for us.
