Questions about an R-Sport Tachometer on eBay 200

I've got a few questions about the following tachometer currently listed on eBay.

What year and trim level cars did those tachometers come in? Were they in the GTs? It seems that this particular tach was from a car made in 1978. When was the last year that these tachometers were made?

Is the seller right in saying that this tach can will work with either a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder engined car? Did it actually come in cars with both types of engines?

Where does this tachometer fit? It *looks* like a 52 mm gauge, but I can't recall seeing a tachometer like this one installed in the gauge spaces. I've only seen a handful of these R-Sport yellow instrument clusters (I think they had four spots, near each corner, for the instruments), though, so I could be mistaken.

If this tachometer is 52 mm, can it be mounted in the spots where the clock and other things go in the later dashes? In other words, can this gauge be installed in a later-model car?

(As a side note, I like how this tachometer has the RPMs listed in blocks of 10, multiplied by 100, instead of 1s, multiplied by 1000. I've only seen this method of labeling used in Mercedes, but just seems to me to be more logical than the conventional way.)
