Lost acceleration, momentarily no power spot on acceleration and at speed. 200

I have a 90 240 wagon with about 195,000.

Recently the "Check Engine" light came on, and along with that
I've lost considerable power upon take off.
From a stop, will not move, then slowly will accelerate. This also happens when I go to pass or "kick down" at highway speed.
Seems to drive fine when up to speed, only a problem while starting up or fast acceleration.

The idle is fine at start up and intermittently high after driving for long periods

- I first checked for fault codes, none ( 1-1-1)
- recently cleaned throttle body and IAC

Any tips on where to start?
A friend suggested the O2 sensor, how to check?

Thanks for any advice

Chapster out
