Charging R12 same as 134a ? 700 1990

AC:
It is the same procedure to add R12 as it is to add R134a. Before you do, unhook the wire to the low pressure sensor and short it - the compressor should turn on. If not, the compressor may be at fault, or clutch. Are you sure that you have R12? A lot of people have converted their cars because of the cost of R12. FCPGroton has a conversion kit if you want to convert to R134a.

Idle speed should not be adjusted manually. Try turning off the AC and see if the idle goes back to normal. Clean the contacts for the idle control motor, or what ever it is called. Clean the throttle body, too.
