240 a/c

I recently acquired a '87 240gl that had been changed over to 134a. It was not blowing any cold air so I pumped the system down (it held vacuum) and tried to recharge it. It wouldn't take the charge. I replaced the evpansion valve and repumped and it still wouldn't take the charge. I am suspecting the compressor is shot because the pressure in the gauges stays the sme after it sucks in the first can simply from the negative pressure. The compressor is working but it won't change the pressure in the guages and it won't suck in the 134a. I think it's shot. Any and all help would be appreciated Joe 87 240gl,149k- '91 740gle147k
