Body / repair +repaint issues 200

I have a newly aquired '87 244.Has a dented in passenger front door and alot of clear coat failure going on.We have a '90 parts car with a good door.I can see how to swap the door over. What about the wiring for the power window etc?Any plugs that can be undone? Or is it a cut and splice job?
About failing paint; I've read forum recommendations for Macco paint jobs.I'd like to go that route.I understand I'll be happier with the finished paint if I do alot of my own prep.I can sand and feather-edge/blend the damaged paint.I'm wondering about the black band at mid level.Any tricks for easing removal? Why is it there anyway?
Can the belt line mouldings be removed without breaking all the clips?
I always appreciate your advice and look forward to your guidance!
