replacement windsheild...which type of glass is best 200 1987

My 87 245 needs a new front windsheild. The old one is toooo pitted to see in the Texas sun. I'm buying a new glass. I've been told LOF is as good as PPG but I don't know what these terms mean and if its true. I also don't know if there are other types of glass out there. It seems like the people I talk to only want to sell me the glass they have. I need some objectivity and experience.
Any opinions out there?
