Attn: LUCID - Smog Success! 200 1985

Hehe,

I had posted re: my girlfriends 85 240 failing the CA 'Test Only' Smog test.
When my GF took the car back for a re-test today, the tech asked her: what the
heck did u do to it???

well, here is the reason why he was asking:

HC went from 126 to 16
CO went from 1.22 to 0.19
NO went from 2548 to 47

Here is a list of things I replaced & fixed. I only wish I knew what made the biggest difference...

1. New Catalytic conv. (the old one was gutted!)
2. Changed oil & filter
3. Replaced plugs, cap & rotor
4. replaced air filter
5. new flame trap
6. Cleaned throttle body
7. Jammed the flap in air box to 'cool' air (was stuck in 'hot')
8. Plugged vacuum hose to ignition module
9. retarded the timing a couple degrees
10 Replaced vacuum hose between throttle body & charcoal can.

Cost of parts about $200 (incl. 4qt.Mobil 1)

Anyway, thanks again for the help, much appreciated!

JJ

btw - the car over 225K miles
