Misbehaving AC on a 1992 200 1992

Dear Persons of Brick--

My 1992 wagon has been converted to R-134. It has the aux electric fan in front of the radiator.

Afternoons in Texas are already getting warm enough to use the AC if the car has been sitting in the sun. Yesterday I noticed the AC was cycling rapidly (every 3 or 4 seconds). I checked the fan and it was running.

Today it isn't. The AC is still cycling rapidly (when the car is moving; not at idle).

Any ideas about the problem (or maybe more than one)? I don't want to run the AC like this--it'll wear out the compressor clutch right away.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Doug Harvey
