OK thanks for everybody's responses.
The light does go on when the transmission randomly down shifts on the freeway. I did a simple check. With the relay installed, key in position II, when I press the OD button I hear an audible CLICK. Remove the relay, no CLICK. So this must be it. I also noticed the part number discrepancy on FCP's web site. I don't know what to make of it.
Anyway, I re-soldered everything, buttoned things up, I hear a CLICK, so the only thing left to do is test drive. Here is a picture of the relay innerds.
