Drop Trans Pan? S90-V90

What is the consensus ref. dropping the trans pan? I have seen some posts that say drop it and some that say not to. My 965 has just under 72K miles and is running on the original fluid. I had planned on doing the FAQ flush at 73K (next oil change). Just read an alternative fluid change technique - just drain and change (via the drain pug) every oil change. After 3 or 4 changes, you'll be ar 90 percent or so synthetic.

Volvo will only drop pan, drain and refill. Inde wants to drop pan, drain (including the TC - he says the TC has a drain plug) and refill.. Neither will flush and I have yet to find anyone in EP that will flush (machine) and refill with synth (they insist on using their OEM spec fluid or Volvo fluid) - some won't flush it since they don't flush trans in cars with more that 70K miles.

I just need to know if I gain allot by dropping the pan ($125.00 at the inde/almost $ 300.00 at the dealer).
