Possible Power Stage Unit Problem 700 1989

I recently got a 1989 780 Bertone Coupe and it runs great EXCEPT for one thing. If I don't let the engine warm up for 5 to 10 (It's still pretty cold here in New England) it hiccups when I drive it for about 5 minutes or so till the engine warms up. After that it drives great except under load when I'm on the highway or something and really hitting it or doing a good sized hill, it'll do light hiccups there too. I checked around the FAQ and someone seemed to report something similar saying he replaced the power stage unit and that helped. Does that sound like this issue or could it be something else? Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Every time it happens it makes my heart stop.

Thanks
