Hello,
This is my first use of BrickBoard.
I have two problems with my 1990 (H-reg in the UK) 740GLE Sedan. I purchased it 8 months agao, and am quite pleased with the car. I have had some servicing done including replacing the timing belt as the car has 108,000 miles on it, however have not had the chance to get all issues done, such as even getting a minor or major tuneup.
The current problems are:
a) Two days ago four of the indicator lights came on, battery, brakes, hand brake and light failure. Upon investigating the brickboard it seemed that I should check the red wire leading to the back of the alternator, which I did and it seems to be in good condition, I slide it off and re-connected it to ensure the connection was OK. The lights stayed on, sometimes in a dimmed manner until this evening the car stopped with no electrical. By the way the battery is only three months old. I am now awaiting the emergency tow service to come and pick the car up. Can you help? The belts appear fairly new and are also fairly tight.
b) For some time now I have been loosing coolant and most recently I had a pool of it in the right front foot well. (Being in the UK the drive is on the right - I mention this to see if repairing the heater is still the same as a car with left side drive? I am jumping to conclusions, however if my problem is one of replacing the heater core, or at least do I need to take out the heater to find the problem?
Thank you for your help in reading this and providing suggestions and support.
Thanks
