Parking brake cable routing 700

Hi all
1988, 760GLE, still with B280
Installing the new parking brake cable tonight. Everything aft of the rear axle is fine. However the routing up and over the fuel tank/driveshaft is killing me. The old one struggled to stay yet finally capitulated. The new one flat out doesnt want to go over the driveshaft housing.

My hands are cut, my hair is filthy and I am no closer to success.

Does anyone have a a trick or advice?
I have tried cursing and offering skin as sacrifice.
Please help your Volvo brother.
