E-code headlight legal issues?

Hello all,

I still haven't had a chance to install my new E-codes into my '90 240... it's been a busy week!

However, my Dad has recently decided that he's not keen on letting me install the lights on the 240 because they're "illegal". We do not have state safety inspections in Ohio, and I *strongly* doubt that a cop or state trooper is going to notice the european beam pattern in this age of HID and other modern lighting. What has been your experiences in this regard?

My attempts to explain the gradual evolution of US lighting laws towards the european standard fall on deaf ears. Concrete data from those who have installed and use e-code headlights on any car, 240 or otherwise, would be very helpful, as would first-hand accounts of the improved road lighting that they provide over the original plastic composite-lensed light.

Help me folks! I'm tired of driving around with dim, splotchy headlights.

Brian
