Follow-up Radiator Issues: 94 940 '75K Mi 900

Dear Fellow Brickboarders,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. Radiator switch complete. Nissens model went in smoothly. The unit needed a bit of levering, to get it to seat into the rubber grommets at the bottom. On a 94 940, these grommets do not grip the radiator bottom, so have to be left in place, and the radiator pushed down into them.

The amount of ATF in the coolant was very small, a fraction of an ounce. Nonetheless, I drained the tranny pan, and re-filled. I'll have the tranny power flushed, with Mobil 1 Synthetic, this week, during which time, I'll not drive the car, except to the transmission shop.

I have a few comments on the procedure, to add to the FAQs, which I'll submit separately.

Thanks for your help with regard to a separate oil cooler. I may install one, if the "failed" Volvo OEM radiator stands up to a pressure test. If only the ATF cooler has failed, then the unit can be used for engine cooling only.

Hoping the Peace of this weekend descends to, and abides with, You and Yours, I remain,

Yours faithfully,

spook
