M47 Front and Rear Oil Seal Replacement 200 1987

In the process of replacing the clutch in my 240 that has done over 250,000 on the original (not too bad in my book). Notice the rear oil seal on the M47 manual transmission is very wet, obviously about to start leaking. How easy is it to replace this seal? Looks like I will have to remove the rear cover from the transmission before I can withdraw the output shaft and get at the oil seal, don't want too finish up with more of a problem than I start with due to lack of knowledge (Haynes doesn't cover this job...at least in the one I have).
Any thoughts on the value and difficulty on replacing the input shaft oil seal as I have the tranny out, would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
Martyn
