confused about pre-pump

Is the pre-pump junction hose shown in the picture in the FAQ the same as the Pre-pump outlet hose?
What's puzzling is that according to the FAQ section titled "Replacing the pre-pump outlet hose", one needs to get under the car to detach the pre-pump output line from the main fuel pump inlet hose. There is nothing like this mentioned in the section titled "Changing fuel pre-pump".
