240 GL Wiper Question 200 1986

I have a question regarding my '86 240GL driver side windshield wiper. About 1 month ago I turned on the wipers and they worked fine for about 10 minutes. Then the driver side wiper would come up to the furthest point and stop, while the passenger side would continue to work as normal. So basically the driver side is 90degrees and stopped, while the passenger works normally. Once you shut them off, and turn them back on, the driver side will come completely off of the windshield and the passenger side works normally. When I replace the blade back where it should be, and turn it back on; they will work fine for a few swipes of the blade and then the drivers side will do the same thing again.

Any suggestions? Do I need a new motor, or is it something else? With spring time here, I need to fix this relativly soon.

Thanks!
