1) You might do better to start your own new thread on this.

2) The squeal could be the main pulley (Harmonic Balancer), which has its hub secured to the crankshaft, with a rubber bond to the outer (belt driving) part. With age, the rubber bond fails, causing squeals and loss of drive to the alt/water pump. May even separate and do real damage.

3) See if Ottar (owe-tar) Loland will look at it. His has a busy, one-man Volvo-only shop out on Wolf St., just past 7th North. "Scandanavian Auto"
