B18 to B20 Conversion?? 120-130

While you can bore a B18 out to 2 liters and get a good engine, the combustion
chamber is too small and hangs over the open cylinder, so it is not optimum.


Exactly. Also, you need a much thicker head gasket to keep compression to reasonable limits... and that really messes with the squish/quench characteristics.

The result is a 2-liter motor with less performance than a stock 1.8 liter motor. I know -- I had one for years. If you want 2 liters, find a B20 to rebuild. They are common enough.
