87 240 DL was barely running, now won't turn over

Well, thanks for the suggestions brickboarders. I unplugged the AMM and tried starting up but it's just not happening. I'm just wondering, and forgive my ignorance, would a blown water pump bearing cause the car to run poorly at first and then to die like this? Since there originally was a whining noise coming from the water pump area perhaps this is all related. Also, I'm noticing a lot of exposed/cracked wires in different parts of my harness and another one coming off the ignition coil. Is it time for a new harness? This was a CA car that I brought with me back to Boston so this was it's first winter and it didn't seem to fair to well.
