Not really a fair comparison bringing the B20E with it's bigger cam, bigger exhaust & fuel injection that features a reasonable manifold.

The best standard B18B was rated at 115 BHP & the best B20B had 118 BHP.
The best B18B had 10:1 compression while the best B20B had 9.5:1.
The best B18B made do with 40mm intake valves while B20B's get 42mm.
They both have the same camshaft.
The extra 3 BHP more likely comes from the bigger intake valve rather than the capacity.
