Intermittent bulb failure warning light 700 1991

My bulb failure warning light goes on intermittently - every now and then - and seems to be related to brake lights. If the headlights are not on, pressing the brake pedal causes it to go on (and then off). If the headlights are on, it is on. But then, out of the blue, just as it appeared, it disappears. And, when it is on, and I check around the car, there are no lights out. Is this a case of cleaning contacts (as the FAQ suggest)?
