Fuel Distributor Help Needed!!! 200 1985

i have been trying to get my 85 244 turbo running, and have tracked the problem down to one area. the fuel disributor is getting gas, but not passing it on to the injectors. i am almost sure that the car will run if i can remedy this problem. if i crank the motor and/or give it gas while trying to start it, pressure builds up and then if i crack any of the fuel line bolts, gas sprays out. i checked with the auto parts stores in town, and they priced the fuel distributor at $500-$3000! that is far more than the car is currently worth.

does anyone know if (1) the fuel distributor can be opened up and cleaned or reconditioned if needed, or (2) if the best route would be to get a used part from a yard, or (3) if the real problem lies elsewhere and is just causing this trouble at the fuel distributor?

i took the air-fuel unit out and removed the fuel distributor and physically blew air through with my mouth and it seems to have open passages. this isn't the technical way to do things, but it was all i could think of.

i really need some advice on this, so if anyone could respond, i would appreciate it. a phone call would be great so that i could explain things better. if you call, i'll call you back on my bill. 435-327-1911.

thanks!
