Car Dies After Stereo Installation 200 1990

Hi all,

My brother installed a new stereo in his 240. After installation he was driving and the stereo died. Shortly after the car died while driving. A jump start barley kept it going then it died again. I then used the battery out of my 240 to get it home. All the indicator lights on the dash were dim red. We do I start to fix this problem. Could it be the alternator or did he screw the wiring up. The stereo is now out.
