120 wagon exterior chrome trim removal at base of windows - help 120-130

I would like to remove the flattish chrome trim pieces that run along the base of the side glass (the base of the door windows and wagon side window) - to check for rust. I attempted to wedge them upwards and off, but they are connected very well and I do not want to break anything. I do intend to put them back.

Is there a technique and/or a special tool?

thanks.
