Replaced voltage regulator, now confused 200 1986

Thanks to everyone who recommended that I change the voltage regulator on my 245. The brushes on the old one were worn down to little nubs, so I'm pretty sure that was the problem. I also put a new battery in and fully charged it overnight. I went to bed last night quite proud of myself, but when I started the car this a.m. all the warning lights stayed on strong (battery, brake failure, parking brake, light failure). I checked all the connections, and nothing seemed out of place. Any suggestions?
