Hello Everyone. 93 244 with 167K miles. In the process of replacing tie rod ends (left side was dead) and right inner tie rod, ball joints (both boots were torn), sway bar link ends (kind of crusty) and sway bar bushings ( a little enlarged). I'm slow as molasses but everything is going OK, so far. However, I'm wondering if it is prudent for me to get involved with the control arm bushings. I'm not afraid of pressing them out, cause I can always find a machine shop, but to remove the control arm I'm concerned that I'll have awful difficulty removing the bolt at the rear of the control arm obscured by the exhaust down pipe. I doubt I could get in there without disassembling the down pipe and by the looks of the exhaust connection bolts, they are only coming off with a torch, which I don't have.
A friend said that the control arms rarely go bad and if I disconnected ball joints and sway bar end links I could tell if the bushings in the control arm needed to be replaced by how "stiff" the control arm appeared to be.
Could anyone comment on this. If I need to get the control arms off could you give you some idea how to get that nut/bolt off on the right side. Thanks much
